tantric meeting on the 2nd of February 2011

Patricia and Dilli Oli with a very rare silk applique Tantric hanging, that was part of a talk given at Studio Naenna last week. These types of hangings were introduced by the 5th Dalai Lama who started this tradition in Tibet, but today only a few artists know this technique. Mr Dilli Oli from Nepal also brought his fine collection of Tibetan "thankas" painted on cloth depicting mandalas, Buddhist saints and Tantric Buddhist interpretations of the cosmos. He gave a lovely talk on the symbols and history for the Chiang Mai Textile Group and friends on the Studio verandah.
